Fulfilling First

On the 30th March, Fulfilling Rolls - formerly Stocks Hill Catering, took a major step in its development by attaining legal status as a Community Interest Company.  This will enable Fulfilling Rolls to offer its workers a real stake in the business whilst ensuring that it keeps its focus as a social enterprise. Fulfilling Rolls is one of the first Community Interest Companies and possibly the first catering Community Interest Company in the country.
Dave Sigsworth, manager of Fulfilling Rolls, said, " This is a great leap forward for our social enterprise.  It should help us reach our goal of offering employment  to mental health service users who are currently facing barriers in the labour market.

Launch of Centre for Social Business

On June 2nd John Battle, pictured, the Labour MP, for Leeds West, opened the Leeds Social Business Centre  which will provide support and premises to people setting up social businesses.

The Leeds Social Business Centre (LSBC), in the Buslingthorpe area of the city will also be used as a training and meeting centre.

Lisa Burnett, development manager at LSBC, said: "Social businesses focus on responding to social need or making positive change, often employing those whose opportunities for employment might be more limited including those with mental health problems".

"Support will be given in writing the all-important business plan that assists in running a business as well as access to many development grants."
