Stocks Hill Day Centre is a mental health resource centre in the up-and-coming area of Armley, in the West of Leeds.

Inside the centre there is a mix of one-to-one support and group work as well as a fully equipped kitchen that is staffed by a volunteer and service users.

However, a growing part of the work of the centre involves supporting people to pursue leisure, sport, education, employment or voluntary work opportunities in the community.

This is because Stocks Hill Day Centre is putting into practice the principles of social inclusion.  This is the idea that people with mental health problems should be supported to live mainstream lives, enjoying all the benefits and increased quality of life that this brings.

There is  an amazing variety of groups within Stocks Hill including:
  • local history
  • art
  • photography
  • swimming
  • salsa
  • gardening
  • music
  • guitar
  • cycling and bike maintenance
Community work involves a range of activities where people are linked into whatever they want to do in the community.

The Stocks Hill Music Group is actually a band called Dream Police.  They have to be seen to be believed; the drummer and the guitarist and other instrumentalists are spectacular.

If you want to be referred to Stocks Hill, ask your worker or GP if you don't have a mental health worker,  to  simply fill in the downloadable referral form.  You can fill in the referral form with your referrer.
